Alaina Whitaker Sings Hopelessly Devoted On American Idol
Tonight, Alaina Whitaker – one of the Top 10 girls contestants at American Idol 2008 Season 7 – sang the song Hopelessly Devoted To You by Olivia Newton John.
Alaina Whitaker has been one of my favourites since her audition. Last night, after the wows around David Archuleta, I felt Alaina would top it. It didn’t quite happen but in my world it did. Among all the top 10 singers tonight, Alaina was the only one who really held those lower notes together. Agreed, the higher notes did sound a little whiny, but it was my favourite performance of the night. I seriously do think she’s a better singer than David Archuleta or Carly Smithson. And she probably is one of the more chilled out and straightforward contestants around.
