American Idol Auditions Winners Atlanta Georgia
Watch American Idol auditions from Atlanta, Georgia audition round that feature the best winners – contestants/ performances and singers that won a ticket to the second Hollywood round. This video includes:
Brooke Helvie – 18 year old – This beauty pageant queen is Miss South Florida Fair. She comes in claiming she wants to change Simon Cowell’s perception of what a ‘pageant performance’ is all about. Sings Who’s Loving You by the Jackson 5. Makes it through but not before Simon calls her the most annoying person he has ever seen. Makes sense – she was giggling at one stage about how she once kissed a pig and milked a cow.
Josiah Leming Morristown Tennessee (but in reality, wherever his car takes him). This 18 year old has been living and sleeping in his car for the last year after he quit school and left home. Travels ‘where the wind blows’ as he puts it, playing gigs as and when possible. As pointed out by Simon Cowell, he does have a very Brit pop-rock influence to his song writing that goes beyond his accent and posturing as he sings a song he wrote called To Run and Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars at Simon’s very happy British insistence. Will the surrealism last through Hollywood
Amanda Overmyer – Mulberry, Indiana – A nurse who teaches patients with respiratory diseases to handle and use their equipment is an attempt at being a Hell’s Angel. Sings Turtle Blues by Janis Joplin well. After the mess that has been created with Janis Joplin at this year’s American Idol auditions, this was a relief. Paula Abdul christens her the female Chris Daughtry and all’s well.
Joshua Jones – Glass cutters and glass – that’s what this guy is all about – at least until he sings. To take on Freddie Mercury singing Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now is quite hazardous, but this guy came out pretty good. There were some stops and starts during his audition, but that’s mainly because Simon Cowell couldn’t quite get adjusted to his ‘demonic eyes’ as he called them. Made it through on Randy and Paula’s vote.
Asia’H Epperson – Determined enough to be at the Auditions despite the fact that her dad had passed away just a couple of days before. She sings the LeAnn Rimes version of How Do I Live. Interesting fact about the song: it was written by famed songwriter Dianne Warren for LeAnn Rimes to sing for the Con Air soundtrack but was passed over to Trisha Yearwood because of the country feel she gave to it. The Rimes version has been more successful though.
Alexandrea Lushinton – Accompanied by her 93 year old grandmother, she sings a 1930s tune My Funny Valentine most popularly done by Chet Baker and Ella Fitzgerald.
