It all seems to be heading downhill for the Irish girl Carly Smithson after the initial hoopla by the judges at the start of the season – Simon Cowell who built her up the most seems to have switched loyalties and says he still loves Carly, but in an ode to nostalgia kind of way. It was hard to not compare big-voiced Carly Smithson with the original which played in and out of the TV day after day when I was in school, and the overall effect was a let down – in fact, the last part got annoying with Carly’s repetitive chorus sounding once again like it felt when she did Blackbird – something you do to annoy people: sing repetitively till they drive you out of the room. Some people can get away doing a repetition and actually sound like a variation. I’ve never believed Carly was as good as they made her out to be, so today I’m feeling smug, though a bit sorry that she looks a Bottom 3 candidate. Am I going to miss those wolfy looks. I have exceeded my word limit so I shall keep a trap on my shut.
