Tonight, watch Carly Smithson – one of the Top 8 girls contestants at American Idol 2008 Season 7 – sing the song I Drove All Night by Roy Orbison. Considering the theme was the 80s, I presume Carly did the Cyndi Lauper version which was recorded earlier than Orbison’s.
Carly really turned it on tonight – intense and even pretty. Those eyes during some of the lines in the song – absolutely bewitching (in a wolfy sort of way). The most powerful performance of the night.
