David Archuleta Sings Imagine by John Lennon on American Idol
Tonight, David Archuleta – one of the Top 10 guys/boys contestants at American Idol 2008 Season 7 – sang the John Lennon song Imagine. Well the 60s went by last week with no Beatles. Idol deigned to pick out Lennon for the 70s.
Well, at this stage it kind of looks inevitable, doesn’t it. Alaina Whitaker is one to watch tomorrow night. Archuleta’s was the knockout performance of the night. However, it was almost like it was tailor-made to be the knockout performance. In such shows – you either take a fast song and slow it down or take a slow one, slow it further down, change around the original vocal melody at will, interchange the use of piano or guitars depending on the original lead instrument and of course dim the lights. In short, a knockout performance. I still have my reservations though, on whether he really is the best singer out there. And his hyperventilating thing he does after every performance is beginning to get annoying.
