Watch Randy Madden, self-styled rockstar sing Bon Jovi’s Livin On A Prayer. This prone-to-tears corporate guy attempts a David Cook Audition – same song, and an attempt at emphasizing the “So tough” lyric – but it just doesn’t work. What’s always amazing while watching Idol auditions is contestants going on about how badly they want this. Everyone wants something badly. Heck, I want Winona Ryder. But if I grovel and cry, does it mean I should be handed what I want.
Simon Cowell takes a dig at Paula Abdul when she talks of the “blood, sweat and tears” that goes into playing with a band – he mentions Straight Up – possibly Paula’s most well known hit, which wasn’t written by her. He also makes a valid point right at the end – But I never begged.
